Andrew FamigliettiHello, and welcome to Andrew Famiglietti’s entirely modest web presence. As of September 2011, I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Emerging Media and Communication program at the University of Texas at Dallas. I was previously a Brittain Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

This site also hosts my blog.

My research and teaching focus on the ways digital systems of production, and the cultures that have emerged alongside these systems, are changing the way we create and structure knowledge and creativity. I am especially interested in the culture, history, and political economy of Wikipedia, the phenomenon of Free and Open Source Software, and related experiments with commons-based information production.

I’m also working on a variety of projects designed to develop new ways to employ digital technology for creativity and teaching.

I hold a PhD in American Culture Studies from Bowling Green State University. My dissertation, entitled Hackers, Cyborgs, and Wikipedians focused on the history and embodiment of Wikipedia. It can be viewed online here.

Sometimes, I like to take photographs. You can view them on flickr, if you are so inclined.

I can be found on twitter as afamiglietti

My email address is afamiglietti [at] gmail [dot] com
